The band's first album An Den Ufern (On The Banks),
recorded in April of 1988 and released on Storm Records put a brilliant final
line under the legendary band, Chaos Z. Active from 1980 up to 1984 as the
classic German hardcore band Choas Z, Andreas and his brother Thomas Löhr’s
sound changed from Discharge influenced hardcore to a more darkwave sound,
mostly influenced by Killing Joke. An Den Ufern would be the band's crossover
album, mixing their early Discharge fuelled punk and their icy darkwave, which
at the time was already unmistakable in terms of technology, has become one of
the most renowned and stylistically consistent representatives of darkwave,
characterized by their own uncompromising sound. Fliehende Stürme have absolute
special status in the German indie and underground scene and the results here
are goth-punk perfection.
