The 1984 compilation album Various - Personality Crisis, released on Action Replay Records, is generally regarded as a "tacky" yet quintessential punk cash-in compilation. It captures the energy of the early 1980s punk scene, often featuring a mix of Canadian, American and UK punk bands. It serves as a time capsule for the era, and while some critics might view such releases as derivative, they are considered valuable documents of the underground music scene in 1984. While specific in-depth critical reviews from 1984 are scarce in the search results, the compilation is recognized within the context of 1980s, punk compilations.
