Freshly Riots – Hope

Freshly Riots formed in Gedsted during October 1981 and after a turbulent period with a lack of rehearsal room and many replacements, the band looked like this in 1982: Bo Led Andersen (vocals), Michael "PG" Touborg Andersen (keyboards), Jørn "Tjalfe" Iversen (guitar), Mike Hammer (bass/vocals), Christian Pedersen (drums). From the start, the group was heavily inspired by the UK alternative scene with groups such as Stranglers, Clash, Swell Maps, Buzzcocks and UK Decay until they found their sound. After two tapes their first 7” vinyl offering Delightfully Fresh is released on their own label Bondeskiver and offers six classic goodies. Beginning at a raw hoarse pace, not without humorous elements, the group had its own musical expression, which on several occasions distanced itself from the hardcore punk. Freshly Riots' lyrics revolved around the threats of global nuclear war and US foreign policy, to everyday problems of being and thinking differently. Something that is clearly evident in the group's 1984 debut album Hope, complete with a more New Wave oriented sound. Eventually they changed their name to Freshly and released their final album 'Air (Quoth She)' in 1986.
